Elbana di Navigazione

Elbana di navigazione is a family-run business working in the shipping industry since the 1940s. The history begins when Mr. Alessandro Freschi set up the Freschi Alessandro & C. Shipping agency in the port of Piombino.

With the end of WW II and the resumption of trade, Mr. Freschi bought the first ship of his fleet, called APUANO, a wooden motor vessel of 150 tons of deadweight, employed for the transportation of steel products between the mainland and the islands.

In 1971 Elbana di navigazione was established. In the same year, a dry cargo carrier of 4,500 tons of deadweight was acquired. The fleet was then composed by two other dry cargo carriers almost exclusively used for the transport of steel products to the national firms.
